Set Up Multifactor Authentication (MFA) for Microsoft Azure Single Sign On (SSO)

Purpose

Multifactor Authentication (MFA) is one of the security measures Biola IT takes to protect your account. MFA helps to verify your identity by sending you a text, calling your phone, or using Microsoft's Authentication app to keep your account secure.

This page explains how to set up Multifactor Authentication (MFA) in order to log onto Biola services using Microsoft Azure Single Sign On (SSO).

How to Do It

  1. Go to myaccount.microsoft.com and log in with your Biola email address and password.
    • If you've never set up your Multifactor Authentication (MFA) for Microsoft Azure SSO, a prompt will appear to guide you through the process.
    •  !  Note:  This prompt will also appear after logging in to a Biola service for the first time that requires Multifactor Authentication (MFA)
  2. Click Next
This screen will appear after logging in to myaccount.microsoft.com. There is a Use a different account field, a Learn more field, and a Next button.
  3. Follow the onscreen instructions to set up MFA using the Microsoft Authenticator app on your device OR to set up MFA using your phone, click on the "I want to set up a different method"
  4. If you would like to update your MFA method in the future, sign-in to myaccount.microsoft.com and click on Update info under Security Info.

Using MFA

  1. After logging in to a Biola service that requires Multifactor Authentication (MFA), you will be prompted to verify your identity. Select your verification method (Text, Call, or Microsoft Authenticator App)and click Next.

      • Click your preferred verification method.
      • If you are still unable to retrieve a verification code, please contact the IT Helpdesk at it.helpdesk@biola.edu or 562.903.4740 for assistance.
