Purpose
This page is intended for new or returning Biolans (e.g. students, faculty, staff). It explains the steps for retrieving your Biola username and setting your account credentials.
Setting your Biola account password is required to gain access to Biola's systems and services. This applies to new and returning employees, faculty, students, and alumni who have not signed in to Biola's systems recently.
New Biolans -- Set Your Primary Password for the First Time
- Check your personal* (non-Biola) email address for a message from it.helpdesk@biola.edu with the subject: "Next step: Set up your Biola [student/employee] account".
- Your personal* email address is the one that you provided to Biola when you applied.
- The account setup email from Biola contains your username, a temporary password, and instructions for setting your account credentials when you sign in to myaccount.biola.edu for the first time.
- After you follow the account setup directions, you will be logged in to myaccount.biola.edu, where you will see your Biola ID number and various usernames.
- Biola ID: used by many departments to identify your unique record in Biola's databases.
- NetID: Primarily used to access the campus wifi called Biola NetID. It uses your primary account password.
- Biola email: The username for most of Biola's systems and your email address in Biola Gmail. Biola Gmail also uses your primary account password.
- Personal email: The email address you provided when you applied to Biola. If you need to reset your password, our systems will send a message to this email address to verify your identity.
- If you encounter any errors or cannot find the account setup email from it.helpdesk@biola.edu with your username and temporary password, please call the IT Helpdesk at 562.903.4740 or email us at it.helpdesk@biola.edu.
Returning Biolans -- Regain Access to Your Biola Accounts
- If you know your Biola email address (primary account username) and password, we still encourage you to follow these directions to reset your password. If your Biola Google account was deactivated, you must reset your password to reaccess your email account.
- Check your personal* (non-Biola) email address for a message from it.helpdesk@biola.edu with the subject: "Next step: Set up your Biola [student/employee] account".
- Your personal* email address is the one that you provided to Biola when you applied.
- Take note of your Biola email address (primary account username)
- Navigate to passwordreset.microsoftonline.com
- Enter your email address when prompted
- Fill in the Captcha
- Click Next
- Follow the onscreen directions to receive an identity verification code via email. If you've set up your mobile phone number or Microsoft Authenticator in the past, you can verify your identity using those methods.
- Once you verify your email, follow the onscreen instructions to reset your password.
