Update Recovery Information for Biola.edu Microsoft Account
This knowledge base article guides you through updating your recovery information, phone phone and alternate email address, for Microsoft's Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR). This ensures you can recover or reset your password.
Prerequisites:
- An active Biola.edu Microsoft account
- Access to a web browser
- A mobile phone and/or alternate email address for verification
Instructions
Access the Microsoft Account Portal
- Open your web browser and go to https://myaccount.microsoft.com
- Sign in with your Biola Microsoft account credentials
Navigate to Security Info
- On the left sidebar, click on "Security info"
- If prompted, verify your identity using your current security method
Update Phone Number
- In the Security info section, navigate to the "Phone" row
- Select "Change"
- Enter your updated mobile phone number
- Choose whether you prefer text message or phone call verification
- Click "Next" and follow the prompts to verify your phone number
Update Email Address
- In the Security info section, navigate to the "Email" row
- Select "Change"
- Enter an updated alternate email address that you can access
- Click "Next"
- Check your alternate email for a verification code and enter it on the Microsoft account page
Add New Methods (Authenticator App, Alternate Phone, Security Key, etc)
- In the Security info section, click "Add sign-in Method"
- Select a new method from the dropdown menu
- Follow the on-screen instructions to set up the new method
