How to Find your Network MAC/Hardware Address

Purpose

This article provides instructions on how to find your Network MAC or Hardware address. It includes steps for Mac and PC users as well as iPhone/iPad, Android, and Google Pixel device users.

 

Instructions

Finding Your MAC/Hardware Address

Mac and PC:

  1. For Mac users:
    • Hold down the Option key on your keyboard.
    • Click on the WiFi icon in the top right corner of your screen.
    • Take a screenshot of the displayed information.
    • Your MAC/Hardware address is listed simply as "Address" and consists of 6 alphanumeric character pairs separated by colons such as A1:B2:C3:D4:E5:F6.
  2. For PC users:
    • Press the Windows key on your keyboard.
    • Type in "cmd" and press Enter.
    • A black and white window titled Command Prompt will appear.
    • Type "ipconfig/all" and press Enter.
    • Scroll down to either the Wireless LAN adapter Wi-Fi or the Ethernet Adapter Ethernet section.
    • Take a screenshot of the displayed information.
    • Your MAC/Hardware address is listed as "Physical Address" and consists of 6 alphanumeric character pairs separated by colons such as A1:B2:C3:D4:E5:F6.

Mobile Devices:

  1. For iPhone & iPad users:
    • Open the Settings app.
    • Select General.
    • Select About.
    • Scroll down and note Wi-Fi Address.
    • The Wi-Fi address is your Mac address.
  2. For Android users:
    • Open Settings app.
    • Select About [device].
    • Select Status.
    • Scroll down and note Wi-Fi MAC Address.
  3. For Google Pixel users:
    • Open Settings app.
    • Scroll down and select About Your Phone.
    • Scroll down to Device Identifiers.
    • Look for the MAC address for, Device Wi-Fi MAC address
      •  !  Note: Any other MAC address listed will not register the device properly.
