Details
Microsoft Global Secure Access (GSA) is Biola’s campus network access service, replacing Cisco Secure Client VPN. GSA allows employees to securely access on-campus resources — such as Banner, files.biola.edu, and on-campus printers — from any location.
Unlike traditional VPN, GSA runs automatically in the background on your Biola-managed device and uses your existing Biola account (SSO) credentials to authenticate. You do not need to manually connect or enter a separate password.
GSA uses a zero-trust security model, meaning each user is granted access only to the specific services relevant to their role, rather than broad access to the entire campus network.
Service Eligibility
By Default: Staff & Faculty (on Biola-managed computers)
With Special Permission: Student Workers & Third-Party Vendors
Requesting this Service
Starting October 2026, GSA will be automatically deployed to all eligible Biola-managed devices. Staff and faculty do not need to submit a request to receive GSA — it will be installed on your computer by IT. If you do not see GSA installed, you can install it yourself via Self Servics (Macs) or Company Portal (Windows).
At launch, staff and faculty will be granted access to services based on the services that they accessed with VPN. If you need access to additional services, you will soon be able to request access via a service request form.
Student workers and third-party vendors requiring access must have a Biola employee or faculty member submit a request on their behalf, with a valid business or educational justification.
