How to Set Up and Connect to a Cradlepoint Hotspot
Network Operations maintains two backup Cradlepoint Hotspot routers for emergency use only.
Prerequisites:
- Permission from Director of NetOps or CIO to use this emergency backup device
Instructions
Router Setup
- Attach the 2.4G and 4G antennas to the labeled ports on the router
- Connect the 4-prong end of the power supply to the router
- Plug in the 12 volt AC/DC adapter to an electrical outlet
- Slide power switch to "I" (on position)
- Wait for device to complete the loading process for about 60 seconds
- "SGNL" meter should have blue lights indicating strength of connection
Connecting to the Router
- Take note of the WiFi "SSID" name and password located on the bottom product label (i.e., "IBR600LPE" & "Default Password: ...")
- Select the router's WiFi "SSID" from your computer's list of available networks
- For Windows users, you may be prompted to enter a PIN at first
Select "Connecting using a password instead"
- Enter the Default Password from the bottom label
Troubleshooting Steps
For when the device fails to establish an internet connection, indicator lights are (flashing) orange, or any other issue
- Power Cycle the Routher
- Turn off the router via the power switch (do not unplug)
- Wait a few minutes and power it back on
- Wait 3-5 minutes for the router to establish a connection
- Physically Relocate the Router
- Move the router next to a window or upstairs
- Keep the router away from thick concrete walls, heavy metal surface, or other sources of electronic interference
- Reseat the SIM Card
- Turn the router off (via the power switch)
- Locate the SIM card slot
- Slide the SIM card out completely and verify it isn't dusty or loose
- Reinsert it firmly until it 'clicks', then turn the device back on
