Zebra DS2278 Programming Guide

This article outlines how to set up and program a Zebra DS2278 Barcode Scanner for use on both Windows and Apple device.

Default Configuration

Scan the QR code to the right to automatically apply the following settings: HID Keyboard Emulation Carriage Return after Decode Hands-free Cradle: Disable Beeper Volume: Low Beeper Tone: Low Beeper Duration: Short Created using Zebra's 123Scan Application

Scan the QR code to the right to automatically apply the following settings:

HID Keyboard Emulation
Carriage Return after Decode
Hands-free Cradle: Disable
Beeper Volume: Low
Beeper Tone: Low
Beeper Duration: Short

Bluetooth Pairing Setup

For Windows Devices:

Windows Bluetooth Pairing
Scan the IT Default Presets DataMatrix Code to the Right
WAIT FOR GREEN LIGHT TO STOP FLASHING
Scan the "HID Bluetooth Classic" barcode
On the Windows device, select Windows Settings
Select Devices (Bluetooth, printers, mouse)
Under Add a Device, select Bluetooth (mice, keyboards, pens, or audio and other kinds of Bluetooth devices)
Wait for the Zebra wireless scanner to be discovered and select the option
The Zebra wireless scanner will connect (pair)
Open a text application e.g. Microsoft Notepad or Word and perform a test barcode scan to confirm data transmission

Windows Scan to Connect Utilty
Faster pairing than using Windows Bluetooth settings Requires an application	Download and install the Zebra Scan To Connect Utility on your Windows device. Refer to the article: Pairing Cordless Scanner to Windows 10 with Scan-to-Connect Utility.

For Apple Devices:

Apple iOS Bluetooth Pairing
Scan the IT Default Presets DataMatrix Code to the right
WAIT FOR GREEN LIGHT TO STOP FLASHING
Scan the "HID Bluetooth Classic" barcode
Got to Settings > Bluetooth
Wait for the Zebra wireless scanner to be found under Settings > Bluetooth > other Devices and then select it
The Zebra wireless scanner will then be connected (paired)
Open a default application on the Apple iOS device (e.g. Notes) and perform a test scan to confirm data transmission

Modify Settings:

ADD AN ENTER KEY (Carriage Return/Line Feed)
BEEPER LOW VOLUME
MEDIUM VOLUME
HIGH VOLUME
REMOVE ENTER KEY FORMAT
ENABLE HANDS-FREE MODE (When the scanner is in the cradle)
DISABLE HANDS-FREE SCANNING (When the scanner is in the cradle)
FACTORY DEFAULTS
