How to Configure a New Google 2-Step Verification Method

Purpose

This article provides instructions on how to configure a new Google 2-Step Verification method for Biola University accounts. It includes steps for setting up various verification options like text messages, voice calls, Google mobile app prompts, authenticator apps, smartphone security keys, and backup codes.

 

Instructions

Step 1: Go to Google's 2-Step Verification Page

Go to Google's 2-Step Verification page.

Log in with your Biola email address and password.

If asked, enter a Google 2-Step Verification code and click Next.

If you don't have a code:

  • Click Try another way.
  • Click Get a verification code at (***) ***-**** or use any other verification methods you've previously configured.
  • If you are still unable to retrieve a verification code, please contact the IT Helpdesk at it.helpdesk@biola.edu or 562.903.4740 for assistance.

Step 2: Configure an Alternative Verification Method

To set up an Alternative Verification Method, visit Google's Turn on 2-Step Verification for further instructions.
